Google Works...

in Mysterious Ways!
Or YouTube [!]

Now... the rest of the Harvey, for Pete sake (and Mary).^^

What transpired this morning was opening my blog from my desktop and reading "Mysterious "(scroll over or click on).  A Ty Cobb reference was embedded in my post.  He was also embedded(earlier) in a family photo as a frame liner or stuffing in the form of a Seattle papers sports section.  His batting average was around .410 at the time.  The photo is of my grandfather on skid row. (I walk past it every day as I come down the stairs for breakfast.) But it was not our dad's Skid Road.  It was a logging camp taken by an historic*** photographer with my granfather proudly centered.

Literal Flip-flop?**
Not to tangent.*
[sorry for the anachronistic asterisks]

Obama is Ty Cobb in the following context:
The saying "All is fair in love and war" comes to mind. A google search brought up reference to Ty Cobb’s ability to stretch the rules and was used in reference to modern business tactics. Business aside, though that is the world he^ came from, it is interesting that some^ would make more rules (whether for couples or nations) when they in particular have trouble with following those that exist.
(but on the level field of dreams.)

We are the borg, not the cable guy or Picards.

* Is of sorts a tangent, as in a recent encounter with "Proust"
** link 2 "Ways" black and white
*** the one on my wall has not been found online, but found the 3rd link under the historic*** YouTube.

[In context? Not to pun.]

FOOTNOTE:  The third link is high-lighted.  The balance is how we get there.  The Mysterious Picards the content of context.

Lean Back

Anniversaries from "Unhistory".

4women: [under construction]

I won't get stuck on numbers, but this is an interesting tangent.
Passing the buck in "the culture war"?
One Million Moms claims there is a culture war.
How is one neutral in what is their war?

for the Raw Money* Class?

It's half-time in America.
(RM** w/Chris Hayes)
*Thanks to Norman Goldman for Mint Raw Money, and a Thom Hartmann caller who wanted a new class label for the 1% if Romney is the nominee. Do we really want to go back to where we were in 2008?
**only a coincidence he is in for Rachel Maddow
*** they used to call it "doom and gloom"
[***B:(link added) I take it back, they doo doo irony! Talk about twisted bridge of rhetoric.]

[2-7-12 An Inconvenient Acronym: PU Action as opposed to just PU**^? Actually it is more*^ of an inconvenient blog search.]

Soul Dad?

It was after making this unfortunate lede* that the news of Don Cornelius's passing reached my screen. Speaking of R-E-S-P-E-C-T, no disrespect to Soledad O'Brien, but to say it is inconvenient timing, makes it sound like there could be any better. A loss of this kind is sad, but did it have to happen this month?

The New Compendium

NOT!
Really...probably not.
But it sounds like an epoch
and not quite an anthology,
but hopefully not an achronism.

THE POINT?
A cover page of sorts.
Yeah that's the ticket!
...the dynamics of progress,

Six Things Everybody Knows About Deficits ...
That Are Completely Untrue

Which I rephrase as truths:

1.) Current and future spending are not the problem with the defecit, except for paying for our history.
2.) Social Security is not a big deal to fix(separately), but could be impacted by the budget and other decisions.
3.) Austerity and investment are different stories, that both have an impact on the budget and winning the future as well as the now.
4.) Concessions should not be trickle down but incentives should be target up.
5.) Wall Street is not fixed enough to be that big or permanent a part of the solution.
6.) Social Security is not on the same budget table as Medicare and Medicaid and calling them "entitlements" is misleading, and means testing or tax changes could address their impact on our economy.

Maybe you had to be there.
The Bill Thing.
The Frackin' Thing.
The Club of Construction.[ B ]
The King Tut of Rhetoric
Not to mention Divagation.

BTW: Going Egypt depends on who you ask, and I am not asking Stephen or Steve King***. And Going Wisconsin should not mean Going Cheesehead*. But I will tie this up with a preamble. If I may paraphrase and extend the remarks of a caller to the Norman Goldman Show: If you are not for "a more perfect Union" you may be Un-American. If you are not willing "to promote the General Welfare" you may be militant against "the Blessings of Liberty", but one can take words (and rhetoric or puns) too far. I suggest the word militant not be used, and that nowwhere near the tactics be used in political protests** but just who expects whom to turn the other cheek? There seems to be a slippery slope in the free speech zone.

* my original intent was a pun on Ed Head, which is not a Soft Head, but then there may be a lede to leader in the eventual link.[I believe it was a caller to the Ed Schultz Show that lead me to independently think that the failure of unions in Wisconsin would put a whole new spin on the name Cheeseheads.]

** the right to protest and any intent to break the law, includes the right to be arrested but not beaten, though we should understand that resistence is not futile but few put up with it well

*** see previous clause "divagation" link and prior line "Tut" for the two Kings.

Black History Month

Who am I to comment, but I will note my stochastic nature*, by way of noting my delay.

My point? I have not noted Black History month in the past, and I will make no excuse for it, and I don't know why I am a day late anyway, but did craft this in a more purposeful, if not direct way. And found some interesting stuff, with a little more intent, filtering and sorting than usual.

[Not that my point is the one bold line, but the 4thletter fit my Ge Oh Me Try.]

*note: the term "Black Swan***" is derived from an unfortunated cultural context of a less than Platonic world view; the all or nothing spectrum** of good and evil and terms of use, let alone labels and characterizations.

** for some I note the irony
*** and for others the Swan is about the shape not the Ugly Duckling.
[apologies for an achronism re: asterisks]
[Note: By way of a litte more intent on content I un-embed two links.]

Just a Position

Juxta Position

Ground Zero

Just returned from an East Coast journey, the complete itinerary and journal is not available, but we managed to take in many historic sites, from Boston Harbor, and Ground Zero to Stony Hill Inn.

It was our own little Tea Party of sorts, but we must note in passing, the anniversaries of Katrina and the memorable Martin Luther King Jr. Speech.

Tool Shed

[held in draft posted 10 AM: 10-5-09 ]
[Banana Republic] Open Salon
Me: If John Perry was a involved in the Carter administration, it is no wonder it suffered.

Military style: Rumsfeld v. Gates
I don't know if I will find the quote but Rumsfeld noted his style of management as heated or open to heated dialogue. I will only contrast this with what I feel is a more healthy debate. Of course there is no debate as to whom is in charge. (Yeah right!) But I feel that reading between the lines is not so much the problem as actually reading some lines. The short answer? Not. I feel that the actual strategy may be not as much a push back to the administration but a pulling forward (see "shared responsibility) in support of a more robust change. It should also be realized just who are rationals actor and who are less so. I won't characterize any groups by even saying "them" or "us" but I mean those that see violence as the primary tool. And what is military strategy is no longer just in the shadows.

I am saving a spot here for some pieces I have framed in another format which might be relevant to a take on history. {under construction}

[or destruction a reference to the case we are in]

{At this point I will note that I have reserved another room in this museum or fix we are in, akin to being held in draft as in a placeholder for my tools}

Turning

a page...
I am two frequently flipping them but this might be worth bookmarking (the page). Not to mention framing a new leaf.
